Mellotron was showing the latest version of the classic Mellotron 400 at the recent NAMM show. It’s nice to see that they haven’t raised their prices in years, too. The MkII lists at the original 1973 American price of $5,2000 plus shipping. Case included.

OK. For that price you could trick out your entire studio with the latest computer, software, control surfaces and have some money left over for bling. But that wouldn’t inspire lust in geeky prog-rockers like a Mellotron Mk VI.

It’s an honest to god, mechanical tape analog sample player, and you don’t see many of these around anymore.

The Mellotron and Chamberlin sounds have been remastered from the original session tapes, giving better sonic clarity and higher reproduction quality. Some sounds (like the Mellotron Glockenspiel) have never been available before. In addition, they’ve produced new sounds (like Recorder and 35 note Female Voice) and have made the entire Chamberlin library available to Mellotron owners.

The initial run of MK VI Mellotrons will be 30 units: 20 for sale in the United States and 10 available in Europe and the United Kingdom.
