Found Magazine, a publication that specializes in “found stuff” that gives a glimpse into someone else’s life, has revealed the secret of the mystery booty tape, aka The Booty Don’t Stop!.
An unmarked tape contained a series of one-minute long songs, made up of synthesizers, drum machines and digitally-altered vocals, celebrating the female buttocks.
Tracks on the tape included:
- Wave Yo’ Booty in the Air (Bounce)
- Yo’ Ass is So Fine
- Ass-Whomp Bustin’ Out of Yo’ Back Pocket
- Yo’ Shit Be Up In My Face
- Wiggle On the Flo’
- Booty Time
- Taste That Booty Flava’
- Booty Shake (a capella)
- Your Booty Don’t Stop
- (She Got a) Big Fat Booty
- Wave Yo Booty in the Air (remix)
- Yo’ Ass is So Fine (heartfelt remix)
- Ass-Whomp (re-dux)
- Yo’ Shit Be Up in My Face (abandoned)
The tape was circulated around Michigan for two years, copied and distributed before someone recognized the person responsible for it.
“I love the booty tape,” said Davy Rothbart, creator and editor of FOUND, who responded to the A-T’s questions via e-mail from Rome, Italy. “It is what all booty music aspires to be.”
“Everyone I play the tape for seems to take a childish delight in the songs, even old people and people who speak no English.”
Tim Schreiber, 24, made the original booty tape when he was a 16-year- old in Ypsilanti, Mich. After their publication in FOUND magazine, radio reporter Jonathan Menjivar traced “The Ypsilanti All-Starz” to their source, the booty-filled mind of Tim Schreiber.
Schreiber now has a philosophy degree from the University of Georgia, lives in Athens and performs with Col. Knowledge and the Lickity Splits.
“I can still sit back and laugh at my own creation after all these years,” Schreiber said. “I think if anyone really considers the booty tape to be something to ponder and be taken seriously, they should get their head checked.”
