Numark has introduced a new USB-ready DJ turntable, the iCDX, that doesn’t fit into any traditional category. It’s not really a turntable, it’s not really an iPod accessory and it’s more than a MIDI control surface.
And it’s one of the first devices that promises to make scratching your iPod a good thing.
The iCDX can interface with a wide variety of popular DJ software packages, and can be used as to manipulate and store MP3 files. The iCDX also comes with an adaptable iPod docking station, letting you use the it to control music stored on your iPod.
Other features includ built-in DSP effects, a touch sensitive scratch wheel, automatic BPM counter, a digital output, and an LCD screen. iCDX’s pitch function also has Key Lock, with a range of ± 100%.
In addition to the automatic BPM counter, the iCDX has a manual tap function, probably because today’s drum and bass messes with automated BPM counter’s little brains.
