Ron Jeremy

Adult film star Ron Jeremy doesn’t sing at Porn Star Karaoke night, held each Tuesday night at a Burbank bar.

“I suck,” he declares. “I did have a rap song that was on Billboard for 27 weeks. It’s called Freak of the Week. I did another rap song called Going Down at the Bunny Ranch that was on VH-1.”

Apparently, Jeremy’s talents lie elsewhere. “I had some success with music, but I was rappin’. I wasn’t that good at that, either. As a rapper, I’m mediocre. As a singer, I seriously suck.”

So Jeremy doesn’t take part in the action at Sardo’s, the bar that’s the home to Porn Star Karaoke night. But it seems to be getting by just fine without him.

It’s been going on for two and a half years as the brainchild of KSEX Radio host Wankus (real name Wayne C. Lewis) who sounds a bit bemused that his one night out singing karaoke has turned into an ongoing hit.

“I had an adult star on my radio show, Aria, and she sang karaoke. And she said we ought to go out and sing in a karaoke bar,” Wankus explains. “So we went out and it was me, her, and Connie, who is director from the movie company DVSX. We sang all night for eight people and had a great time.”

Wankus then went on his radio show and talked about it. Word quickly spread around the adult community. The following week the crowd had doubled. Within three weeks the place was mobbed with mostly adult stars. “It was like 80 to 90 percent adult stars and we’re talking big stars like Ginger Lynn, Tera Patrick - they were all there having a great time.”
