Tucson Weekly has a great overview of Tape Op’s TapeOpCon 2006, which looks like it will be an audio tech and music geek’s wet dream.
If you’re not familiar with Tape Op, you should be. It’s a free magazine about recording, with great interviews with producers, engineers and musicians. TapeOpCon 2006 is the magazine’s 5th annual conference, happening June 16-18th in Tucson, Az.
“Tape Op is almost like the outcast club in high school,” says Tape Op’s Larry Crane. “We’re definitely not the mainstream face of music recording, so we just pull everybody else in with us.”
Or, as Craig Schumacher puts it: “The conference has turned into a kind of real-time extension of the magazine. With beer.”
