Gary GlitterUK glam rocker Gary Glitter, best known for the hit Rock and Roll (Part 2) has failed in his attempt to persuade a Vietnamese court to overturn his sentence for molesting young girls.

In March, Glitter, was found guilty of committing obscene acts with underage girls and sentenced to three years in prison.

The court rejected Glitter’s appeal and upheld his sentence of three years in prison for obscene acts with children, said Truong Vinh Thuy, one of the three judges to deliver the verdict.

As the 62-year-old singer left the courtroom, he exclaimed to reporters: “There was no defense allowed!”

Glitter accused newspapers such as the Sun and the News of the World of damaging his reputation and claimed that “the evidence relating to his case looked like evidence from the newspapers”, Mr Kinh said.

Glitter’s reputation has been sullied since 1999, when he was convicted in Britain of possessing child pornography, and served several months in jail.
Le Thanh Kinh, the lawyer representing Glitter, said his client believed he was a victim of a tabloid conspiracy.
