This week, the CL Sound Machine, from Cucumber Lab, was a strong competitor, but it had already popped up at a lot of gadget sites so it didn’t make the cut.

The Sound Machine is a striking post-modern take on the gramaphone, featuring a 200-watt amplifier, built in speakers and even an 8-inch subwoofer. And a wine rack!
