Video Games Live, a touring show of live video game music performances, is called “the first video game concert to tour the world”. The tour kicked off in one of the homes of video games, Silicon Valley, with a performance as the closing ceremony to the Game Developers Conference (GDC).
The debut performance took place on July 6th, 2005 at the Hollywood Bowl featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Over 11,000 audience members participated in the biggest video game concert in history. This year’s show features new segments and even more games to ensure yet another record-breaking event.
Video Games Live will also be the first to bring video game music to the fine state of Texas. On July 14, 2006 the Houston Symphony will be performing Video Games Live at Jones Hall. Aside from traveling the U.S., VGL is also planning performances in places such as Canada, Japan, Australia, South America (Brazil), Korea, Hong Kong, Russia, China, France, England & Italy. Most of the performances will be the very first time that video game music has ever been officially performed live.
Looks geektastic. Tour details are available at the Video Games Live site.
