Steve JobsIt looks like Apple CEO Steve Jobs may be on a mission to piss off everyone in the world.

At an education conference on Friday, Steve Jobs blamed teachers’ unions for America’s educational problems.

“I believe that what is wrong with our schools in this nation is that they have become unionized,” Jobs said. “This unionization and lifetime employment of K-12 teachers is off-the-charts crazy.”

“Apple just lost some business in this state, I’m sure,” Jobs said.

Jobs is no stranger to controversy:

  • Earlier in the year, Steve Jobs blew off Mac fans at Macworld, the largest convention of Mac users in the world, by not making any Mac introductions. There were no announcements of new Macintosh computers. There were no updates of Mac OS X. No mention of iLife updates. Apple didn’t even announce any cool new applications for Macs. Instead, Jobs introduced the Apple phone and some cross-platform products.
  • Jobs angered Windows users when Apple blamed virus-infected iPods on Windows. “As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses.”
  • Jobs angered Apple investors by profiting at their expense when Apple used stock purchase backdating to give him sweet deals on stock and then reportedly falsified documents to cover it up.
  • Jobs pissed off people who just spent hundreds of dollars on a new iPod when he said “if you always want the latest and greatest, then you have to buy a new iPod at least once a year.”
  • Jobs made an enemy of the major music labels when he challenged them to release their music without copy-protection.
  • Jobs pissed off Zune buyers when he said that iPods beat Zunes for connecting with chicks. “I’ve seen the demonstrations on the Internet about how you can find another person using a Zune and give them a song they can play three times,” said Jobs. “By the time you’ve gone through all that, the girl’s got up and left! You’re much better off to take one of your earbuds out and put it in her ear.” Ewwww!

Fortunately for Jobs, Zune buyers haven’t turned out to be a large demographic. Nevertheless, Jobs appears to be well on his way to pissing off everybody.

  1. 1 Macs Suck

It looks like people are starting to figure out what an a$$hole Steve Jobs is.

Mac users are going to wake up and figure out they’ve been paying twice as much as PC buyers for hardware that’s not reliable, and software that you have to upgrade four times as often as Windows.

    Get a clue!

    Are you still using DOS?

You’ve got to be kidding me. Have you ever used a Mac? Have you ever priced a Mac? Less reliable and more upgrades??? I’ve been using Macs for 15+ years and have never had a siginificant problem with the hardware or OS. Last year, I gave away my circa 1991 Mac Classic that still ran without a hitch. When I get together with my family who all use Windoze boxes, they trade horror stories about all of the hardware and software problems they have on their PeeCees. The only disadvantage of owning a Mac is not having 1,000 crappy game titles to choose from. Personally, I don’t care if Steve Jobs is a jerk (so is Gates). What matters is that his company makes a product that is powerful, elegant and easy-to-use. What a concept.

Sounds like you don’t mind paying twice as much to get hardware that you can’t upgrade, doesn’t have as many peripherals, and locks you into what Apple thinks you should buy.

Your right about PCs having 1000 crappy games that Macs don’t have. But they also have 1,000 good games that Macs don’t have, too.

I’m no Gates fan, but it’s starting to look like Jobs is even more of a jerk than he is.

Pick any time in the history of personal computing and you will never find an instance where Macs were TWICE the price of a PC. I ask again, have you ever really compared the prices? Go ahead and buy a $600 PC laptop tomorrow and try to load Vista on it - You’ll be lucky if you can get Word to open before it slows to a crawl.

I don’t need to upgrade when the computer works like a charm out of the box and runs perfectly for years because my OS isn’t being packed full of bloated patches and updates every 15 minutes.

I’d rather have 2 choices of peripherals that I know will work rather than 8 choices - 2 of which will never work, 5 of which will take 3 hours of troubleshooting and driver downloads to get running.

Why should I mind buying the components Apple thinks should be in their computers? They have TESTED THEM to make sure they work properly together - Microsoft clearly sees the paying customer as their beta tester.

I whole-heartedly agree that Steve Jobs is probably a royal SOB, and I wouldn’t want to work for him, but if Macs are so terrible, why is the entire music and computer industry eating Apple’s dust? It’s entirely possible you’ve had a great computing experience with a PC running Windows, but you would be in a distinct minority.
