Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, has announced that Jam Sessions – a music title for the Nintendo DS system in which players actually strum a guitar via the Touch Screen to make music – will launch in North America in June 2007.

“Jam Sessions is an amazing title with limitless potential to entertain and engage a wide audience of people who love music, guitar and singing,” said Tony Key, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. “Basically, it’s a guitar in your pocket but that’s just the beginning. It’s a chance for people who have never thought of themselves as ‘musically inclined’ to jump right in and play through entire songs, compose their own music and sing along with friends.” Continue reading ‘Ubisoft Announces Jam Sessions Guitar Title for Nintendo DS’

Prince Super Bowl Half-TimeSome people are wondering if the climax of Prince’s performance during this year’s Super Bowl half-time show was more than a little bit phallic.

To which you have to wonder - what planet are these people from?

Of course Prince was being nasty!

This is the guy who brought you Get Off, Cream, Do Me Baby, Jack U Off and Head. This is the guy that took squeeky-clean Sheena Easton and switched her from singing “My baby takes the morning train” to “Come spend the night inside my sugar walls.”

Of course Prince’s performance was phallic - it was an onanistic pantomime!

The NFL is trying to dodge the issue. The NFL produced the halftime show, and spokesman Greg Aiello said it’s gotten no complaints.

“It takes quite a leap of the imagination to make a controversy of his performance,” said Aiello. “It’s a guitar.”

Yes, it’s a guitar…but it’s a guitar being waved orgasmicly while Prince is backlit behind a flowing white sheet, which only came out at the climax of his performance.

The NFL should give Prince credit for at least being discreetly nasty.

terrifying guitar tripAlfred Publishing has released a new guitar video that has just about the best title ever. Paul Gilbert’s Terrifying Guitar Trip is now available on DVD.

Paul Gilbert, guitarist for the bands Racer X and Mr. Big, is considered one of the fastest guitar players in the world. He’s one of the Top 10 Shredders Of All Time, according to Guitar One magazine, and had a regular column in the British guitar magazine, Total Guitar. He has also contributed instructional articles to Guitar Player magazine, and teaches at the Guitar Institute of Technology GIT.

On the DVD, Gilbert teaches you to play with intensity, speed and finesse. In other words, the real reason the DVD is so terrifying is because of the shirt Gilbert wears on the cover.
